Many Women find Abraham Hicks Ideas
Not so Far Fetched
I felt compelled to write this page, after noting a rather scathing attack on Abraham Hicks, as in Jerry Hicks and his wife Esther, law of attraction gurus now known to millions.
Realistic optimism in gear and minds open, let's give the dynamic duo a break. It is my opinion that their work is extremely well-intentioned, and that their advice has been at the root of many womens' personal transformations. Voices? I for one, do not understand the whole voices thing, and am confused about their self-positioning as mediums. So off I went, the evidence seeker that I am, to buy not one, not two, but three of their books! I could not put them down. They are an inspiring read, to say the least. I did however, have to ignore the more paranormal aspects of their work to truly get into their message. What I did find is a mountain of kindness and respect for people, for women and men in great difficulty, and the same philosophy I found in my earlier readings with Dr. Joseph Murphy and Earl Nightingale. Abraham Hicks’ approach to law of attraction is seen as highly controversial and for good reason. And so I connected with a woman who met them and had actually gone on a boat cruise with Jerry and Esther Hicks’ organization. She raved about it, and applied their basic healthy thinking strategies to create positive change in her life. This woman is a credentialed professional, as I am, and highly respected in her field. Seeking truth. For the uninitiated, what is Abraham Hicks all about? In a nutshell, Esther claims to have begun to receive messages at some point, and claims to subsequently have been compelled to speak in tongues. (Yikes!) This is where I would normally run. However, instead I evaluated a recording of her in those early years, and another which is quite recent. I noted a significant difference and a diminished emphasis on the speaking in tongues part. Not sure what that is about. What remains constant is a healthy message that yes, the more you think about something, with simultaneous good feelings the higher your chances of attracting it. So true. Realistic Optimism Surfaces One area I found particularly reassuring in their work is the following. Esther Hicks warns that once a major catastrophe is barreling down upon you, seconds away, all the positive thinking in the world may not help you. As in, jumping out of the helicopter without a parachute. Also very true. When women ask me about abraham-hicks books or strategies for their credit card debt relief(1) or relationship issues, relationship, obesity and other problems, I do sometimes suggest their works as part of a course of study, done with an open mind, and in the spirit of evaluating as many elements of a solution as possible in order to solve problems.
