giving hope to my shocked nursing students, no one could have done what this amazing team did on December 1st, 2009.
Oprah filled the global airwaves, and most importantly, our hearts and minds, with Sheryl WuDunn and Nicholas Kristof’s heart wrenching, painful to watch reports from their book, Half the Sky. Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. A spectacular example of people dedicating their lives to the Positive Change Movement, the two are married, Pulitzer Prize winning relentless activists in the cause to end misogyny, girls and women living in abject poverty, torture, enslavement and the prevention of their access to basic health care, food and education. The AHA Moment Solution? Unleashing the potential of women. Can We Change the World? Can We Do This? How? Women and men together, through simple, ridiculously inexpensive solutions such as: • Educate girls and women. • Microloans of $50.00 or less to help women start their won business. • Iodine in the salt to prevent fetal brain damage at pennies per year. Shamefully, the current status of women worldwide includes: • Massive and growing sex trafficking of girls and women • Forced prostitution of girls and women • Gender based violence which includes honor killings, mass rape • Maternal mortality rates currently claim the life of one woman a minute.
