The care of our minds should receive as much focus as the care of our bodies. If not more. For even if and when one day, perhaps, in very old age, our bodies may fail us, much joy and peace remains available to us if our minds remain healthy. People facing death, still enjoying life and expressing happiness, have amazed me many times. They think differently… they have thought habits we should learn.

Developing new habits is usually a challenge. Developing more effective ways of thinking is no different, and can take several weeks or months to become part of our new and healthier self. (Note: When we are living with mental illness, this is even more of a challenge.) Your health care providers will assist you in choosing the best healthy thinking methods for you, and staying on track when times are tough.

Simple, easy to remember techniques to help get your thinking back on a better-feeling wavelength, whenever you are feeling down or stressed are best. Keep in mind that positive thinking alone is not enough.
