Disillusioned with The Law of Attraction? This is Why.
...and Here's How to Fix It.
Stop beating yourself up. Take heart. The law of attraction
can help you better your life, just as many other healthy positive thinking practices can. As a comparison to the practice of meditation or prayer for example, both widely accepted healthy mental strategies, LOA, to be effective, requires the development of new habits and consistency. You can get more skilled at attracting less of what you don't want, and more of what you do want. Will it bring you everything you want? I am one with Oprah on that one: no. There are many other forces at work in the universe, not all of them positive. There is no genie in a bottle, and just sitting around picturing your dream - is ineffective, to say the least.
There is the whole scientific debate around the topic of synchronicity or, coincidance, of course.(1) Misspelling intentional. Can we contribute to events occurring to help solve our problems? Either way, if you've been feeling disillusioned about
deliberate creation,
or your progress so far, or about the fact that maybe everything on your vision board hasn't appeared in your life, it may be helpful to pick up one or two law of attraction books. Also note that there are
several laws
at play in the attraction field, as well as positive psychology concepts such as
autosuggestion.
, a strategy I used to help me win a computer. Let's start with the two-step basic Attract It formula I teach in my book and womens seminars. To get back on track, you need to do two things:
DECIDE + ENERGIZE
All the while... as an underlying law of attraction state of mind, remember to nurture and maintain a spirit of:
Decide: make a clear, good feeling decision about what it is you truly want.
Energize: apply your energy, attention, and focus to what it is you decided you want to attract. This includes taking action towards your goal.

Knowing: develop, nurture and maintain good feelings, while thinking about your desire. Thinking, Huh? Here are a few interpretations of the Knowing feeling:
• I just know it's going to happen. • I can see myself in my new workplace. I feel at home there. • Belief • Faith • Confidence that a specific desire, or an improvement to your situation, will manifest • A contented, special feeling that you know you're in the flow of abundance and attracting the experiences, events, people and things that you want and deserve
The Knowing part is of utmost importance. Women who are struggling with the law of attraction philosophy, positive thinking strategies, or any other positive psychology theory they are trying to adopt, all tell me the same thing. They say:
I made my list of what I don't want, and my list of what I truly want. I made a beautiful dream board and it's hanging in my office at work. Things seem to start going my way at first, and then the law of attraction just seems to stop working for me.
Why? Most of the time, the woman, or womens group, speaking these words has lost the Knowing, or confidence feeling. Find out more about this key element and how to overcome it in Attract It. In the meantime, learn a few basics about
how to do affirmations that work.

A Special Note for Women in Leadership: I've been there - I'm there now. And so are many of my clients. I have applied realistic positive thinking strategies as a successful leadership consultant, management skills trainer, co-ordinator, team leader, hospital CEO, nursing home administrator, and manager. Yes, this applies and will greatly assist you in your day-to-day work. No, you do not have to come out of the closet and profess your new found success and the source at your next staff meeting! In fact, HR consultants recommend avoiding bringing your spirituality to work. Women in leadership however, regularly tell me about
