Laws Of Attraction: from disappointments to better results.
Universal Laws Of Attraction. How's that workin' for 'ya? Did you start to apply some of these ideas and then fall off the wagon because of poor results with real problems like fear, debt, overwhelm, well... you're in good company! This happens to all of us when we are learning new habits. As a health care professional, I am concerned about current popular messaging that gives the impression you will get whatever you want just by thinking positive or visualizing a desired item. Yikes! This is a site for exploring these ideas, in a realistic manner, and seeking to create sustainable positive change about real problems in their lives. Note to women: we think differently than men. Women often feel they have no one to turn to when things are not working out as they planned, especially when they have started fresh with a new attitude, and solutions are not coming fast enough. What happens next? Giving up. There is a better way.
You will be learning a lot about the laws of attraction... all of them... on this site, and to get you started, here is my interpretation of one of these - the Law Of Attraction. I have received many testimonials that the basic 2-Step strategy I teach is effective... when you stick with it. It works for me, and has nothing to do with 'genie in a bottle' or 'magical' thinking. It is time we all got real about these healthy thinking strategies, now being taught in respected university programs, world wide.
Intro to the 2-Step strategy.
There is much more to succeeding with the Laws of Attraction than just positive thinking. New and healthier thought habits do hold power for you, as they become your new way of thinking. I'm sure you noticed this page is about the lawS of attraction. Plural. Yes - there are several principles of positive psychology at work where women are getting great results with healthy thinking strategies.
What about The Secret? ...an interesting dvd, a good starting point for discussion and change for many women. However, I do not agree with some of the underlying messaging it presented. It did, however, present the most important of the Laws of Attraction to today's seeker. In the past, pre-internet, people like Earl Nightingale and Catherine Ponder wrote about it, and they are among some of those who introduced me to this idea, at the same time as I was taking Psychology courses in university. In fact, like any new skill, the more we learn about universal Laws of Attraction, the better we get at creating positive change in our own life.
Think about the following questions over the next 2-3 days. What are the long term effective strategies you really need for positive change... specific to your issues? Are you aware of and applying Universal Laws of Attraction? How about the concept of Contrast? Are you familiar with it and how to use it anytime, anywhere, to improve a situation? What does the theory ' Thoughts are Things ' have to offer women struggling with real life issues? These are some of the ideas that can help you understand and apply the law of attraction right now. Consider this page a starting point for the important resources you have... resources many women are not using to the degree they could be... your own acres of diamonds.
Let's start with the Universal Laws Of Attraction. Depending on what research or compilation you are studying, you will find lists of 6, and even 12 Universal Laws! Can you remember 12 Laws? Well, some days I can't remember where I left my car keys!
We are going to focus on just 3 basic Universal Laws for now. I know you will find them to be of use in solving your problems.
1. The Law Of Attraction:YOU WILL ATTRACT WHAT YOU REPEATEDLY THINK ABOUT, WITH SIMULTANEOUS GOOD FEELINGS - OR SOMETHING LIKE IT. This is the Master Key - my definition. Every woman I have worked with, every female client I have counseled, who has grasped and consistently applied this Law to her presenting problem, has improved her situation. Period.
How? By doing 2 simple steps, over and over, or on an ongoing basis.
First, you must absolutely, firmly, confidently DECIDE What You Want.
Next, you must ENERGIZE your Decision by giving it your energy, attention and focus.
All the while, you must have a KNOWING feeling that yes, you will succeed in attracting this outcome.
What do I mean by ' Knowing ' ? This "laws of attraction" feeling is the same as ' eliminating all doubt ', or confidence and comfort in a positive outcome.
2. Thoughts are Things. Every thought you think, whether you have consciously ' put it there ' or not, is a ' thing ' unto itself. Some will dispute that thoughts have any vibrational energy, and that they have any capacity to impact events. If this were true, then why would colleges, universities and research organizations all over the world be studying the brain as it thinks different thoughts, right now, using powerful MRI imaging computer... and observing the very energy fields emitted as the person is instructed to think certain thoughts?
In fact, brilliant minds are spreading the word that not only are thoughts things, but they have the power to create positive change. Even to trigger changes in the very structure of the brain. This concept is called brain plasticity. The very nature of the field of psychiatry is to find ways to help patients think thoughts which are healthier, more positive, and to find ways to stem or at least diminish the tide of disturbing thoughts the patient is having.
3. The third of the universal laws of attraction I want you to think about for now is the Law of ACTION. You must consistently act in the same direction as the thing you are trying to attract. The actions you engage in must support what you are wanting.
For example, let's imagine you have Decided to attract the sale of your home. You are doing some daily visualization around that end result, and you have begun to pack your belongings. Now, yes, it is possible that out of the blue, someone will knock on your door and say "Hey! I want to buy your house, and here's my cheque." However, the chances of this happening are probably about the same as you winning the lottery - no worse!
Now if, however, you do make the Decision, and you do begin the mind work inherent in the laws of attraction, such as visualization, and you ensure that you are triggering good feelings when thinking about your desire and you actually put a sign on your lawn... your chances of manifesting this desire are most excellent. I know. I have done exactly that 3 times... with no real estate agent.
4. The Law of Forces. My observations and experiences with thousands of women, for over 50 years, has taught me that, contrary to what some law of attraction gurus may tell you, There are other Forces at work in the universe, not all of them good. You know what I mean, and you have experienced them. Women usually know, instinctively, that something is ' Not OK ' , with a certain path someone wants us to follow, or with tempting ideas presented to us. We may also be negatively affected by the actions of others. Period. However - we can greatly impact the amount and intensity of ' Bad Stuff ' coming at us in our lives with healthy thinking, positive thinking, law of attraction strategies and all that belongs solidly in this megatrend, which is now a tidal wave the world over. I for one, am grateful. More about gratefulness later.
