Letting Go of Guilt. Women and Guilt Series
In part one, we looked at letting go of guilt
by introspective, solution focused questions. Your goal is to say goodbye to incapacitating feelings of shame, embarrassment, blame, regret and hyper responsibility. Let’s continue learning to think differently: forgive and accept yourself as you are, and decrease your sense of obligation to please others. This three part series includes powerful strategies in sync with law of attraction, the Sedona method, and positive thinking phrases useful for the serious issue of shame and guilt. Goodbye martyrdom. Hello freedom..2. Get Specific. In healthy law of attraction strategy, one applies their Energy, Attention and Focus to the Solution. Pick out what you feel is the most upsetting issue from your childhood, adult or current life experiences, which came up in #1.(1) Answer the following questions: • What level of shame and guilt do I feel about this issue, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst? • Does this issue feel like one of, or the top cause of the shame and guilt I feel? Note: It does not matter if you are right or wrong about the answer. • In reality, who is or was, responsible for the issue or problem? • At this time, whose problem is it? • How am I making this problem worse for myself? In other words, what, specifically are you doing to exacerbate it? • How is the shame and guilt I experience affecting my life? • If I felt free from shame or guilt, how would I perceive the issue then? 3. Redefine. Using this new set of questions, begin letting go of guilt by getting the upper hand over it, so to speak. • Realistically, how insurmountable is this problem? • If the issue involves another person, is it possible to connect with that person and work through the issue? • Is it possible there is more than one solution to the problem? • Are you certain you are not actually trying to prevent someone else from feeling pain? • If the problem is actually someone else’s, are you ready to let go of it and any other impossible to change issues around it? At this point, I encourage you to do a short upbeat re-directing exercise. It could be watching an inspiring movie, going for a hike in a scenic area, or treating yourself to a massage or spa time. This work is difficult and can seem heavy. Turning your thoughts and physical experience towards some pleasant, feel good, fun activities for a while is great therapy.
