Oprah and The Secret Movie

Sharing The Good News In 2006, Oprah’s featuring Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret Movie sparked a tsunami of interest in the law of attraction. Never before had a major media force given the so-called New Age concept worldwide center stage attention.(1) The Mother of all media moguls and The Secret seemed like a match made in heaven. The most important of the universal laws, available to all of us, we attract what we think about, seemed an ideal philosophy for the superstar to be promoting, to help people with.

The Secret Under Attack. Then, the backlash. A strong negative reaction ensued, with a nasty focus on the attracting material possessions aspect of The Secret movie. Oprah, the teachers on the The Secret DVD, the secret Rhonda Byrne… everyone was having their fingers slapped for wanting abundance.

Going Beyond The Secret. In answer to the outcry and endless debate around the issue, Oprah aired the Louise Hay episode in 2008. Re-affirming her belief in the Law’s value, she expressed gratitude that The Secret movie opened the minds of millions to the idea that we are “responsible for the quality of our lives.” Louise Hay, who published her first book at 50, You Can Heal Your Life, was at 81, considered a guru of positive thinking and law of attraction synced strategy. Oprah’s decision to combine her and Ms Hay’s powers for good in effect, made positive change TV history. Oprah and the secret continue their powerful relationship with satellite radio, partnerships with teachers like Marianne Williamson, Eckhart Tolle, Martha Beck and other masters.
