Optimistic Thinking.
Why Bother? Optimistic thinking, now difficult to refute as a factor in good health, is not necessarily an automatic habit. Optimist's Creed below.
It is a mental habit one can learn however, and many studies now point to it as a top mental habit to be cultivated. You will undoubtedly come across naysayers as well, who point to events and life circumstances where thinking positive did not bring about the solution hoped for. Of course. No rational thinker would advise that simply adopting optimistic thinking is a cure all, or a fool proof preventative measure against all of life’s trials and tribulations. However, it is certainly proving to be an ally. The much touted Women’s Health Initiative, which had close to 100,000 participants, studied women who were cancer-free and cardiovascular disease-free at the outset. Optimistic thinking was examined versus cynical hostility. Can you imagine going through life cynically hostile? Yikes! What outcomes do you think you would attract? Among other findings, the optimistic women had less incidence of heart problems such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), angina, and even mortality. The optimists also had significantly less incidence of cancer. Law of attraction is all about optimistic thinking, and in fact could be renamed as such. In order to learn the how of this mental skill, for the pessimist especially, I suggest integrating The Optimist’s Creed into your life plan or daily contemplation. The Optimist's Creed
I Promise Myself:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet.
To make all my friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of myself that I have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
Even the folks at The Secret now have a version of it on their website.
