Surviving job loss
requires skills beyond any positive thinking secret someone may be trying to get you to buy into. I have recently completed some research on what successful women, are doing differently after losing their job, voluntarily or otherwise. Sure enough, realistic strategies in sync with law of attraction skills are part of the solution to this terrifying problem.
First, a few definitions and facts:
Termination. Whether the term used by your employer was let go, discharged, dismissed, fired or permanently laid off, you are still in the situation of surviving job loss.
Laws of Attraction at Work When it Counts. The truth is that women today are truly experts at multi-tasking, working through overwhelm, and applying an amazing variety of skills and knowledge to their issues. Typical Feelings. You may be happy it happened, and even feel relief to be sprung free from a workplace situation that was eating away at your very soul. Sound heavy? Many women who were let go feel exactly that way. You may also feel unstable, find it difficult to make decisions and can experience fear. However, the nugget of freedom within the turmoil is your key to renewal and new, better work experiences.

(2) We tend to draw naturally from our personal well of varied skills, talents and experiences, a la Renaissance Women, and land on our feet, heels intact. This proclivity for seeing the glass half full is healthy positive thinking, classic law of attraction at work in the realistic sense. It does help, and it does propel the newly unemployed in successful directions. On to some important strategies for you to not only survive job loss, but thrive.
1. Healthy Positive Thinking that works for surviving job loss. Though you may feel panic trying to take over, remember your basic thought re-direction skills and use them. Re-focus your mental imagery and self-talk towards what you want to happen, not the worry and fear imagery. This is the time to pull out your meditation cd, notepad, dream board, and any other law of attraction energizers that you know will help you get positively focused. Tell your family what you need to be doing now, and ask that they give you the space you need to work on your career needs. Let them know you need their support, including their positive encouragement, words and expressions of solidarity.
2. Surviving job loss is a new beginning. Take stock of your skills, interests, hobbies, experiences and tendencies. Spend some alone time writing out lists, brainstorming ideas for new jobs in your area, and begin to explore starting your own business, whether it is to be your sole source of income or a sideline. This is a rare opportunity for you to go within and truly seek out the work you really want to be doing. Make a Contrast List of what you don’t want, and what you do want.(3) Imagine being paid for work you love to spend time on. Whether initially or in the future, this can be achieved realistically. If it means that at first, you accept work that is not quite your thing, this experience should renew your desire to do the work you really want to do.
3. How to Negotiate a Severance Package, Build Self-Esteem and make Contacts to Land a New Job. Get Connected with Your Experts. There are experts able to counsel you on every aspect of your current situation, most probably in your area, and if not, on line. Be sure to seek out respected legitimate organizations. You will find government agencies to help you access all social services you qualify for, women’s organizations, and even legal resources for you to use.
